What do you look for when choosing websites (not just yarn)

Lowest Price - don't look at shipping etc.

Do you take any notice of RRP's ?

Post by admin »

We have noticed that quite a few online yarn websites state an RRP and then state their prices with a "you save" byline giving a percentage.

Most yarn suppliers (including Sirdar, Stylecraft and JCB) do NOT give a single RRP. They give you a range of prices as a suggestion and the final price is up to us. Presumably the sites that state a RRP are using the upper suggested price

This got us thinking about what you look for on sites and why you buy from DKY. (we are not looking for compliments - we are just curious)

Personally if I am buying stuff (not yarn obviously) then i check out a few websites via Google and compare their prices including shipping. If it is a big item I check out a few forums too to see what their service is like.

What is important to you? Should we be putting fictitious RRP's on our prices?

Please vote and comment - if you can think of more options let me know and I will add them

Carole
I always shop around, I done this last week with a t.v and its not always the big stores that do the best prices. must be the same with wool, cheaper wool but higher postage/packing.

Along the same theme - how do you feel about having to fill in your Name and Address or register with a website before you find out the final cost of the order?

We checked out a few sites earlier (not for wool but the same applies) and just clicked straight out of sites you had to register on.

Does it turn you off or make you feel valued as a customer?

Do you think registering should make the process quicker next time and is this important to you?

This one depends on what I am buying.

If it is something that will definitely be a one off then, as you say, I really don't like having to register.

For something like yarn, for which I would hope to revisit the site, registering does have the advantage of speeding things and making me feel that the company know me more.

The best sites are those that have both options available so you can order without registering the first time if you wish.
