sock patterns and wool weight

[Lynne]

Hello my name is Lynne and I'm new to this site but can someone out there please help me I am trying to find a pattern for knitting socks and can't seem to find a suitable one in yarn that I know. I downloaded one from the internet but it uses Worsted yarn and I've never heard of it could someone please explain what exactly it is. I'm really looking forward to exploring Dianne's knitting yarns
