Sirdar Snowball

Post by admin »

We are really interested to hear your views on this new pompom scarf yarn and how it compares with the other ones out there.

We did have a few balls of Big Ball Funny last year and they went well but the Sirdar version is cheaper, we think it is softer and the pompoms bigger.

What do you think? Please let us know.

I think it's great! The scarf pattern on the ball band is really easy to follow and took me less than two hours to make, as opposed to 6 hours plus for the big ball funny. :) I'm thinking of trying a baby blanket next.

We have seen a few pictures of garments made from various other pompom yarns. For copyright I can't put pictures on here but I can put links to them.

We have also seen patterns books containing patterns for Bags, Baby Blankets & Cushions.

If you find any more please let us know. Plus photos of your own creations will be very welcome.

Bear in mind this is American and uses a different yarn with smaller pompoms. Sirdar suggest one stitch per strand and she occationally does two. Plus Sirdar Snowball is done on larger needles in Stocking Stitch so is one sided rather than Garter stitch which would be double sided.

We have also seen some other smaller balls of pompom yarn which is much cheaper but you need 4 balls which makes it more expensive per scarf.

One ball of Sirdar Snowball makes quite a long scarf

Dianne has done a scarf in Blue for her grandaughter Jo. It took her about 2 hours but she thinks now she has got used to the technique the next one would be quicker.

It is so soft and long - Jo looks really lovely in it. I will try and get a pic soon.

We are low on stock on some of the colours and may not be able to get any more. Sirdar have said it is a 'one off' yarn just for this Winter.

So please don't be miss out and be disappointed - order while they are still in stock. We will note the number of balls left as they get near the end.
