Post by searchfamilies »

Hi All
I am Janice my mum taught me to knit about 45-50 years ago but didn't do too much when i was young, my mum who knitted up to a few years before she passed away which was a few months ago.
I have only this last few months learnt to knit socks using DPs before that i had done either two needle or tubular ones but not many but now since i finished my first pair have been hooked
I find it hard to find good sock yarn & have had to get some from Germany i am still learning what is best so been trying various makes, i hope to get to know you all take care & may i take this time to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas & A Happy Knitting New Year

Hi there! My favourite sock yarn is Regia - it knits up really well and washes well too. Another popular sock yarn is Opal which is rradily available at many online shops. If you google either Regia or Opal I'm sure you'll find lots of suppliers

Hi
I used Regia 6 ply for my first 2 pairs which are really nice, since then i have had 2 different lots of yarn from Germany one i have knitted the other i haven't but feels really nice, i am working my way through some of the different makes to see which ones i like the best, i did get a couple of balls from a market stall that sells yarn it okay but not as nice as the others & of course there is King Cole's Zig Zag again nice i have as yet not tried Opal, i am hoping that some of the yarns will come down in sales after Christmas so i can get some of the more expensive ones to try, with suppliers sometimes it not just the cost of the yarn it the price of the postage that can send it way high as a lot don't do it either cheaply or you have to spend a large amount to get it free the yarn i got from Germany postage was very reasonable, well Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year
